What kind of counselling do you offer and how can it help me?

I am a humanistic counsellor and my practice draws on Person Centred, Existential and Gestalt theory. I believe that every individual has their own unique story and that by exploring this together we can make sense of relationships, patterns, events, feelings or memories that feel confusing, difficult, stuck or painful.

Counselling is a space away from your everyday life in which you can voice thoughts or feelings that may be difficult to talk about with friends or family. I won’t judge you or tell you what to do to but will support you to work through difficult or painful emotions, with compassion, empathy and authenticity. Through working together my hope is that you will gain in self awareness, self compassion and be better able to make the changes you want to make in your life.

What are your credentials?

I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from Brighton University. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics. You can see my BACP profile here.

Alongside my private practice I have many years experience working for a long-established local community counselling centre - both as a counsellor and service manager. I have worked in the NHS offering counselling for parents and parents to be around miscarriage, relationship and family issues, postnatal difficulties and traumatic child birth. Prior to training as a counsellor I worked for national charities and NGOs on environmental and health issues.

I have both personal and professional experience supporting individuals who are neurodivergent.

I have regular supervision and attend ongoing training to keep my skills and knowledge up to date. Since I qualified I have undertaken additional training in trauma, suicide prevention, bereavement, LGBTQ awareness, relationships, cultural privilege, creative therapies, bereavement, autism & neurodivergence, among others.
